“The unthankful heart discovers no mercies; but the thankful heart will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings.”― Henry Ward Beecher
It wasn’t always so, but I’ve grown to love Thanksgiving more than any other holiday. Although I try to be mindful about being thankful each day, Thanksgiving has a way of focusing my attention.
After all God inhabits the praises of his people, and I once read a translation that paraphrased it as God is in the Thank You. All the more reason for me to be thankful.
In fact my life is filled with people I care about and I have been blessed in so many ways.
I have a wonderful family and great friends.
I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach and joy in my heart.
I’m in fairly good health and I have a wonderful job; doing what I love to do.
And I live in this beautiful country, Canada – a land as diverse as the people who call it home.
Is my life perfect?
No.
But perfect has always seemed a little overrated to me.
How about you?
Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

Diana there is no such thing as perfect, maybe perfect little moments but life is a rollercoaster and I try to be grateful for the good days. Hope your day was spent with loving family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving! Your statement about perfect being overrated is thought-provoking. I think you are right. If life were perfect, we wouldn’t have anything to compare it with and won’t realize how fortunate we are.

I think perfect is over-rated too. Because then if you lose what you had (or thought you had), it is a long way to fall, and you would probably never feel satisfied ever again. So I am one for contentedness and, like you, being grateful for what and who I have. happy Thanksgiving Diana! 🙂

My reasons for thankfulness are similar…
Family, friends, God’s love and grace, and my first grand baby on the way!

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here Diana, but I wish we did. It is a great opportunity and tradition to remember what we do have, and to focus on gratefulness. Have a wonderful time. Does your family all get together? 🙂

Diana, I agree that perfect is overrated. And I really like that Beecher quote. I’m thankful for faith, family and friends. ❤ Stuff doesn't fill our heart–it just complicates our life.

Bloody great post since I am down under we don’t have Thanksgiving and what I know of this is only what I have seen on telly, is it really a big deal, or do tv shows over sell it

It seems to be bigger in the US – it’s bigger than Christmas for them. (their Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November).
In both countries, though, families get together for a huge meal and some travel far distances to do so. It’s nice. ❤
