First Things First
I have a new look! Well not me exactly. My blog. Some of you already noticed the change. Leave it to me to introduce it 3 days after it’s live, right?
I like the Orange TALKTODIANA. I once did that True Colours personality test and I’m an orange. It’s a bold colour – it says, “Hey – look at me!”
Don’t you think?
I like the cleaner easier-to-read font. My eyesight has waned and this WordPress theme has more white space making the letters easier to distinguish from each other. It’s also way more discernible where links are concerned – which will be AWESOME for my Friday Picks!
I like how it features photos I’ve used in past posts.
It seems fitting – a new look for a new chapter in my life.
Friends I have had an incredible year of learning and self-discovery. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
In this last year I have had an opportunity to work with six intelligent, professional, dedicated and passionate people. I’ve learned more than I ever could have imagined possible. I have a great deal of respect for them. Did we always see eye-to-eye? No. It wasn’t all sugar and bliss. Sometimes I was even frustrated. Hey, I’m sure they all felt the same way too at times.
The truth is, if we all agreed all the time, well then, a whole lot of us probably wouldn’t be necessary, right? Shouldn’t the end goal always be to get the best result or product while honouring and respecting the process and people?
The process of figuring out how I fit into an already established team and armed with valuable feedback and insights, I am looking forward to a time of evaluating and re-assessing where my skills and natural abilities will be of good use.
Starting today, I will be very intentional about devoting time to the development of a plan that will guide me into the future. I’m excited. I’m ready for the next chapter! Stay tuned for updates!
I’m very open to your thoughts and insights as I take these first steps. So if you have any wisdom to share, I’d love to hear it.
And now completely of topic and out of left field…
My mom made this Japanese needlework (Bunka) and gifted it to me a few years ago. Imagine my surprise when I saw this same art (the first photo in her post) hanging on stuff I tell my sister’s wall!

I just told my buddy that knock-knock joke this past Wednesday evening. He’d never heard it before!

Most excellent. Change is good, but taking the step into it is where the excitement is. Really value the workmanship that went into your thinking before you lept. And then you did. Well done. I likey like. Dan

Likey like – love it! It wasn’t a year of planning the next move as much as it was a year of discovery for me while working for a wonderful organization. I learned a lot about myself during this time…so now the planning begins… Thanks for stopping by Dan – always good to see you.

I had not heard of the colour test and I just googled for it and did it and I am green. I scored very low on orange. So we are opposites 😦 So you being orange means you are dynamic and full of action AND THRIVE ON CRISIS. Wow I could do with a bit of that. Go go go….. and may be you could send a bit of energy my way 🙂
I LOVE your new look and especially the font. It is very easy to read.

ha! t’is true I jump into action during a crisis! Have been learning to sit still and think things through so hopefully I’ll be able to lay out a plan. Maybe we can trade a bit of green and orange back and forth?

Yes, I could certainly do with a bit of quick instant orange action at times. All this pondering of mine before actually doing anything can be a bit draining 🙂

D, I love the new look and how fitting that it’s orange. In marketing, that color is supposed to evoke happiness so it is very fitting for you because when I read your wonderful posts, that’s how I feel. “Shouldn’t the end goal always be to get the best result or product while honouring and respecting the process and people?” That is it exactly, D. We all need to remember this. Here’s to that new chapter in your life — I’m sure

So cool. I love orange, although I found a test online and tested totally not orange! I’m definitively not orange – got the lowest score possible for it. I don’t think it’s the full test, but that convinced me. But I do love orange, it’s an invigorating colour and you certainly to come across as orange (lol that made me think of a fake tan gone wrong, which is not what I meant…). Apparently I’m blue, with green and gold pretty much matched in score behind. I’m quite in agreement with that. What a fun test, very interesting. I totally agree that if we weren’t all different from each other, a whole lot of us wouldn’t be necessary. I love how you inspire me, and that’s because you think so differently to me – that’s one big reason why I love reading your blog 🙂
Excited to hear about your plans…! 😀

Wow thanks so much for your encouragement and generous words! Your comment made me laugh too because remember when they first came out with those self-tanning products? Quite a few people were orange and most had streaks! All you could do is wait it out because you couldn’t wash it off! hahaha

Ooooohhhhhhh….. I can’t wait — we’re on for Friday, right? And orange! I’m Green/Blue/Orange (all relatively equal) and then…. gold. 🙂

Yes – I’m so looking forward to Friday! I don’t remember what order my other colours came in. Maybe I should re-do that test!
