This loss spills out over things I never thought it would touch and i am shattered by the falsehood of permanence.
– Chloe Frayne
She’s slipping away, bit by bit. In many ways I’ve already lost the woman I’ve known as mother all my life. She’s being replaced with a new woman, one who has endearing qualities of her own, one who although a stranger to me, I’m struggling to know.
What a conundrum to build a new relationship, when memories created moments ago, are forgotten as quickly as they are experienced.
Yet what a gift it is in teaching me how to ‘live in the moment, love in the moment,‘ right in the moment we have.
She may not remember my visit, or the laughs we shared at the dinner table, or the conversation we had on the phone, or that the big-comfy-after-bath-housecoat I bought her, is hanging in her closet, but I hope with all my heart, the love shared in these moments transcends the moments, and makes its home in her heart forever, even if one day, she forgets me.
~ DIANA’S ENORMOUS BOOK OF QUOTES ~
I’ll remember for us both, love you mom.

She may not remember the moment but in that moment the love that was shared will always remain in her heart to warm her when others fail. It’s in her very being the love she has for you. Its a special bond that transcends us. I’d give anything to even hold my mum’s hand, especially now. ❤

Diana, So sorry for your trial. A mom’s love is so special. But know that even though your love may become one way, it is love none – the – less. And both you the giver and mom the receiver will receive God’s grace beyond the norm. For it is given in the face of challenge.

It is hard for us to accept those changes. Still she is your mum and the love is still in the heart. You gave her the precious gift of laughing with her, talking to her, showing your love to her. That is the most important. Big hugs Diana

Diana, years ago I read a story a woman wrote about visiting her mother. Her mother had advanced dementia, and did not know her daughter. But the daughter went to see her almost daily, and took her strawberry ice cream for every visit. Her mother did not remember ‘her’ as her daughter. But she was so touched, and so appreciative and enjoyed the ice cream visits. Her mother still loved her. I always remembered this lady’s story.
You reminded me of this today. In all of the wonderful words. And love.

So sorry to hear this. My mother is increasingly frailer each visit and it’s so depressing and frustrating to witness and understand. Stay strong. The aging parent thing isn’t easy that’s for sure. My father now has cancer and it has been a hectic few months.
