“I want an iPad mini 4 for work,” I said to my boss one day after having decided to take the social media portion of my job up a level.

“Trouble is we have PCs at work and iPads aren’t that compatible with them,” he replied.  So my boss did a bit of research himself and sent me to talk to his contact, Adam at Memory Express.

Well between the two of them, they convinced me the Galaxy Tab S2 was the way to go and I am pretty impressed with it so far.

So here, for your viewing pleasure are some of the photos I’ve taken over the last little while. I’m still learning about, and experimenting with the Galaxy Tab and hopefully my skills will improve with time.

I took this picture after Susan facilitated a workshop on trauma and addiction for me and my co-workers last week.

I took these two photos recently at a celebration of life event honouring my childhood friend Josee.

I’ve traveled to meet with them, or they have traveled to meet with me. It’s been a catching up with others month!

And below are some fall shots I’ve taken in my neighbourhood over the last few weeks.

There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.

Peter Drucker

Doing things that need to be done in a way that doesn’t make sense is one thing. At least you are doing things that need to be done.

Doing things that serve no purpose for the sole sake of just being busy with something is also a problem.

Not that I’ve never done that myself before. I tend to go there when I’m trying to avoid something!

In many organizations we document what we’re doing to show that we’re actually doing our jobs or to be accountable to our customers.

Fine. But how often do we ask ourselves why we are tracking the things we are doing, and once we have the information, how, or if, we will even use it?

It makes sense to be efficient, it’s something I strive for with the things that need to be done. Careful though, if doing something efficiently means that it is no longer effective, that’s a whole other can of beans you don’t want to open up!

Today is Day Nine.

My daily routine has changed. And as with any change, it takes time to get one’s bearings.

And it’s going to take some time to get my rhythm back.

Looking back over the last five years, I can see how all my experiences have led me to this place right here, right now.

All the learning; the good times, the hard times, the fun times and the not-so-fun times – have taught me so much.

And I’m grateful. I feel joy. I’m excited to help build something amazing.

Here’s why. As of the first of May, I am happily employed at an amazing organization that makes a huge difference in the lives of hundreds of people.

Today is Day Nine.

I’m getting my rhythm back. I can’t wait to find new ways to build community.

I promise to tell you more about my new role in subsequent posts, but for now, I’ve got to get ready for work!

Until then, here are some pictures I took on the Mother’s Day weekend.

I couldn’t spend Mother’s Day with my mom or with my daughter, but an edible bouquet from Michaela delivered to my new office on Wednesday made my day!

On Mother’s Day, I took a long, long walk downtown. Here are some pictures I took.

I’d rather have a life of “OH WELLS” than a life of “WHAT IFS.” @FamousWomen

images3I caught the above quote as it flitted by on my Twitter feed the other day and it immediately spoke to me.

Because it’s easier for me to take my lumps in ‘oh wells’ than it is to take them in ‘what ifs.’

It also reminded me of a post I’d seen months ago (link below) about the regrets people have on their deathbed…

and my thoughts about the areas I need to work on; specifically regarding my personal relationships…

…areas I have been consciously and unconsciously working on since.

According to Bronnie Ware the Top 5 regrets people have on their deathbed are:

  1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself.
  2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.
  3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
  4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
  5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

Which above points resonate with you? What are you doing about it?
