A few days ago, I read the post I’m featuring as my Friday Pick today. I was deeply moved by the raw honesty expressed in this post and the deep gratitude it inspired in the writer of the Renegade Press. Depression and suicide are often a taboo subject and I admire Chris’ courage to express his own experience here. I’m sure many others who feel the same way, will find comfort in knowing they are not alone.

In Chris’ own words:

Chris Nicholas is a twenty seven year old student and author from Brisbane, Australia who often refers to himself as an aggressively creative world eater. Priding himself on his willingness to challenge his own preconceptions and push the boundaries of his ambitions, he aims to create beautiful literature that will inspire his audience to do the same.

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post Chris shares his deep gratitude for those who stood by him when he needed them the most…

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that Susan over at Rhythm of Life began following my blog. Today after work I went over there to check out hers. When I came across the post she wrote today on what it means to be a mother, I knew I’d have to share it with you. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out in the blogosphere and to all the single dads who’ve had to play the role of both mom and dad.

In His Susan’s own words:

I am Susan. Wife to the love of my life Michael and mommy of two beautiful children; Gary 7 and Michele 5. Been married for almost 9 beautiful years! I trust that only through Christ I have life. I believe there’s always rhythm(ups and downs) to all our lives that come in many forms. Mine are around our family. I enjoy documenting our family life as I share it along the way; My writing ranges from marriage as I know it, motherhood as I experience it, poetry, quotes of wisdom because I am a wisdom seeker, food just for the love of it and then health because I have been through a cancer journey that has left me with a story to tell. So hop on for the ride y’all!

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post Susan shares a delightful poem for her children…

You know how Facebook brings up memories from a year or more ago on whichever date it happens to be that day? Well I was delighted all over again to see this post on April 11, 2017. A wonderful blogger who writes for In His Image blog wrote and dedicated a post to me in response to my yearning for spring in 2013. Here it is again. ❤

In In His Image’s own words:

This blog will mostly contain writings about science, current events, and freedom. Freedom from the chains of both religion and the state. Like many others, I was raised Christian, and the best lesson I learned from my mother was the love of truth. Truth is the ideal that I have pursued despite its changing effects on myself. I love truth enough to follow it down the dark corridors of human history, to envision a wonderful future for mankind, and yes, I love truth enough to be proven wrong...

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post In His Image shares a delightful poem he wrote for me…

I’ve been following Magnolia Beginnings for quite some time and was thrilled to be directed to Magnolia New Beginnings a few days ago where I read the post I’ve chosen for my Friday Pick this week. For almost two years now, I’ve been working at an organization that provides safe and sober homes to men and women who are in recovery from addictions and thought the post below was filled with great advice. But don’t take my word for it, go ahead and read Marybeth’s story for yourself!

Magnolia’s New Beginning’s mission:

…Magnolia New Beginnings, Inc. is dedicated to advocating for those affected with a substance use disorder, creating educational opportunities to inform and raise awareness about substance abuse, and supporting those with this disease and their families in the process of seeking recovery, maintaining sobriety, and reaching their highest potential through a new beginning...

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post Marybeth shares advice on how to support parents who have lost children to addiction…

It’s probably no surprise to anyone who has read my blog that I am drawn to optimists. And the writer of Destined for Greatness sure fits that bill. I hope you enjoy the post I’ve chosen for this week’s Friday Pick and perhaps, like me, you will decide to click her follow button once you read it. Enjoy!

In Destined for Greater Thing’s own words:

…I write based on my life as a highschool teacher (a career I absolutely love); my daily experiences; my own life’s challenges; and through the information that I have learned by reading articles, literature, and watching documentaries that explore self-growth.  I’m a positive thinker (train myself to be when I’m not) and my inquisitive mind about life has led me here.…

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post Destined for Greater Things shares the good news that we have more say in our happiness than we might think…

It’s been quite a stretch of time since I’ve published a Friday Pick, so last evening, I took a look at those who have recently followed my blog and found Lacie over at Building The Love Shack. I knew right away that I wanted to share her blog with you. Go ahead, check out the link below – you won’t be disappointed, and perhaps like me, you will click follow when you’re done.

In Lacie’s own words:

Hello. I’m Lacie Sheldon Winters. I thought it would be nice to let you get to know a little about me. I live in Hamilton, Ontario. I immigrated to Canada at age nineteen from the Rolling Hills of New York. I am a Nurse who specializes in Geriatric and Dementia, graduating for Mohawk College and a student at MacMaster University, studying Psychology. I also take writing courses at Mohawk College and anywhere else I can find them. I am a mother of two grown children, and share my home with my husband and many pets, dogs, cats, birds and tropical fish.  In my spare time I collect Orchids and African Violets, shoot photography, garden, cook and traveling…

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post Lacie shares her heartbreaking and incredibly inspiring journey toward buying the cottage of her dreams…

I met Mike Robertson of the Bow River Blog on October 16, 2016 at the YYC Rocks for Recovery event. Mike is a fishing guide in Calgary, Alberta and donated a fishing tour to support the event. My good friend Carmen won it! Since then, I’ve occasionally snooped around on Mike’s blog and thought you might enjoy it too.

In Mike’s own words:

The stretch of river I concentrate on fishing most is known as the Lower Bow River, which is the “trophy” section of the river. I have become very intimate with this river and know every inch of water here. The Bow River is Canada’s number one fishing destination for massive Brown and  Rainbow Trout. Once you fish this river you will be “hooked”.

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post  Mike shares his enthusiasm about getting out on his new boat to go fishing…

I started following Innervoice two days ago when she (that’s funny, I’m assuming the writer is a she) came over to visit talktodiana. Through listening to her own inner voice, the writer hopes to discover the real person she is… I hope you’ll check out my Friday Pick this week and introduce yourself to the writer of Innervoice.

In Innervoice’s own words:

Innervoice is just a compilation of my random thoughts on random subjects. It is all about how I look at the world. It is my innervoice speaking out loud to all those who are willing to hear.

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post the writer at Innervoice shares a Haiku about how love can be strong and vulnerable at the same time…

I only recently started following Chelsea over at That Canadian Girl’s Blog when I was drawn in by her beautiful photos taken in my neck of the woods. I hope you will enjoy the post I’ve selected as my Friday Pick this week and also Chelsea’s other posts that beautifully show off the corner of the world that I proudly call home.

In Chelsea’s own words:

My name is Chelsea Scott and I am a firefighter/guide/photographer/writer (yes,I’m busy) who calls Kananaskis, Alberta home. I am originally from Belleville, Ontario but have lived all over Ontario, having called the North Shore of Lake Superior home before moving out to Alberta. I have travelled extensively across Canada and love this gorgeous country. On my blog, you will find travel photos, articles, gear reviews and adventure updates.

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post Chelsea shares her appreciation of the golden larches in the Rocky Mountains…

Yesterday I scanned my notifications to see who has followed my blog recently. That’s when I found WSHOP by Wakweika Felix and was drawn in by his photography. I hope that when you click on the post I have chosen as my Friday Pick this week, you will check out some of his other photos as well.

In Wakweika’s own words:

I am a born and bred Ugandan. First off, thank you for visiting this blog. Thank you for setting aside some of your time to take a peek.  Wshop [Wakweika Shop] is a space I created to share some of my thoughts through words, photography and design. A bit about me: I am a photographer, web and graphics designer. Once in a while I write. I started taking pictures in 2014 and I haven’t stopped since. It’s an addiction. I am an introvert just trying to make sense of things as time goes by. That’s about it really.

This week, I’ve chosen the post below as my Friday Pick.

In this post Wakweika shares a meal with us, so to speak…
