Those times in life when it seems that evil continually prevails, when greedy people keep getting, and vulnerable people keep losing.
Those times when those who don’t follow the rules keep winning, when those who prey on weaknesses are exulted, when those who feel entitled are granted whatever they wish, and those whose genuine efforts and unselfish motives are overlooked time after time.
Those times when I can’t bear to watch anymore, when my anger overtakes me, when for just once, for just one God damned time, my utter hatred of their actions, my complete disdain of them, my raging judgment of them makes me want to squash them, to shine a light on their selfishness, expose their nakedness to every single person, and humiliate them in front of the world.
In those times, although it’s excruciatingly difficult, I must dig deep inside of myself with humility, recognize those same tendencies in me and acknowledge my own shortcomings. I must search for the good in them, reach out with love and kindness and pray it makes a difference.

Diana I love this, when I have issues with people I usually wish them well, I wish their lives would be better so they would be happier and nicer and I wish them a promotion so they may move away from me. Not sure it would work for the powers in government though, where do you go from there.

Diana, your first three paragraphs perfectly summed up our day in the U.S. yesterday … and for the past five months, I suppose. The last paragraph is a tough one for me right now. I’m not feeling it. But I hope we all get there soon. Thank you for your thoughtful perspective. (Maybe it’s a Canadian thing … 🙂

Oh I struggle with this Jim. Not sure all Canadians would agree or that this is a Canadian thing. It’s more of a Diana contemplative thing haha. I know it has been a trying time for many Americans and I do not envy your situation or judge people for standing up for what they believe in, I admire you – nothing is ever that simple. I like what one commenter said here: it is one thing to be angry but it is a whole other thing when anger becomes hatred. ♡

I think it’s okay to acknowledge our anger…but then find the way to process it so we do not become anger. I get this post Diana.

We all experience frustration that transforms to anger. But when anger becomes hate. We are the ones who suffer, not the object of our hate. What takes the sword from my hand is knowing that judgment is not my duty to implement but God’s. Justice will be done. And there one finds peace of soul.
