A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.
Well it’s finally here.
I won’t be bringing a book, or note pad to go sit on a bench in the park to read or write while sipping a Grande half-sweet white chocolate mocha any day soon. And it will be months before I’ll be jumping on my bike to ride Calgary’s pathways.
There’s no more denying it.
There’s no more deciding not to wear socks, or not to dress in layers, or wear a warm coat. Winter is here and there’s nothing I can do about it. I just have to put on my big-girl-snow-pants, lean into the north wind, grit my teeth and plow through it. I don’t have a choice.
Yeah, yeah, I know some of you are excited about winter. You’ve been looking forward to sledding, skiing, snowshoeing, igloo building, icicle licking and whatever else you do in winter.
As for me… should you need me, I’ll be indoors, wrapped in a cozy blanket on my favourite chair, sipping hot chocolate and watching reruns of Island Life.

Sending you sunshine from Australia! 🙂

Oh, yes, it is inevitable, isn’t it? May you big-girl-snowpants be warm, your chair comfy, your hot chocolate tasty, and winter surprise us with her quick passing! Stay warm – in body and spirit.

I love the change of seasons and love crisp winter air. That said, with age, I’m less in love with snow and certainly worry about falling on the ice.

Seriously, I could live in perpetual summer Lisa, but I do find beauty in the other seasons, when I look for it. ❤

Previously my view of winter was a big dislike. Now that we live in a small cabin in the woods, I have come to appreciate winter. Don’t get me wrong I love sandals, shorts & a tank top. It is my preferred attire. However, I appreciate the dormant period & what it means in the natural sense. (Plus I love a nice fire, a glass of wine, a cozy blanket & a great novel, best way to spend winter in my opinion)

You know Amy, I liked the winter better when I lived in the country too! But I didn’t have to get up to go to work early in the morning. I think that makes a difference too, at least to me. ❤

Completely agree, now that I work from home it’s much easier to like winter. I hated fighting the traffic & the crazies that could not drive. Plus who wants to get out of a warm comfy bed at 7 am on a cold winter day. (I sleep in now).

We had early snow and then it wen away. Our temperatures are quite seasonal right now. I just am not a fan of being cold. Sigh. Good thing I live in Canada, eh? ❤

Yes I have a few times and to Europe! It is very long and I don’t enjoy the plane trip that’s for sure, but I do love the experience when I get there. 💕

I love fall the most. I love the seasons when I’m “IN” them. It’s the changing from one to the other that gets me. When I’m in summer I could live in summer forever. Same with winter. And definitely with fall. Spring, on the other hand, doesn’t call to me.
