And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. ~ Anaïs Nin
When you take a leap in faith to follow your heart, you do so knowing that there is no guarantee that you will succeed.
Often, when you finally do pursue your dream, it’s because it has become too unbearable for you to remain docile in a particular situation or way of being. For whatever reason, you resolve that change is needed.
And so you calculate the risk.
Is it what I really want? Is it worth pursuing even if nothing comes of it? What are the pros and cons of taking this risk? What might I lose? What might I gain?
All growth seems to happen when it becomes uncomfortable to remain where and how you are. And whether it manifests itself the way you hoped it would or not, growth always adds value, sometimes it even leads to more than you envisioned.
~ DIANA’S ENORMOUS BOOK OF QUOTES ~
What’s the most important risk you ever took? Did it work out the way you hoped it would? What did you learn through the process?

Diana I love that quote and the thought that if we hold back its even more painful. I guess it is scary when we put ourselves out there. When i first applied to be a member of the art/craft shop I am now involved with. I felt so vulnerable waiting for their call to be accepted. And then when someone buys a piece of my art it still makes my smile large and it has nothing to do with the money. I like the idea that my art is hanging in someone’s house and making them happy.

We are in the midst of taking a risk by downsizing and moving to a rural area about 15 hours drive from our current home. Is it worth the risk? Yes, and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of it.

There are some things that I rather not do. Violence is one such thing.
Some have called me a coward but I’ve walked away.
But the first time some one hurt my wife – I beat the shit out of that guy, even though he was much bigger than me.
I continue to go out of my way to avoid violence.
Does that count, D, my friend?

I love that quote Diana. I guess I have taken some risks over my life and I am about to do that again this week when I launch my new book to the world ha! When I face my fears and the uncertainty of life, I find I always learn that I have a lot more strength, courage and love then I give myself credit for. Risk taking helps me see this and I hope it allows others to give it a go too. 🙂

I don’t know that I’ve taken lots of risks. I guess I have, but have a hard time looking backwards and seeing them as such.

Getting married to that person. 😮
“Did it work out the way you hoped it would?”
Nope. More like the opposite. 😥
“What did you learn through the process?”
Not to do that again!

I’m fond of taking risks… and they always seem to work out. Biggest one was leaving Salt Lake City after 4 years of being homesick for the east coast. We sold our home, packed our things in a U-Haul van and drove east. No home or job to go to..we took a chance in a very bleak late 1970’s economy. Within 3 months, we were resettled in the Midwest, not exactly coastal, but closer to family. ☺

Getting married was a risk– my father didn’t initially approve of my husband bc he didn’t like his father (my husband’s father).. my father made things very difficult for me and I was in the middle many times. I did what I believed and while no marriage is perfect, I’ve been quite happy (I think!) for 34 years.
