“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
~J.R.R. Tolkien
Sounds simple, right?
Whether you’re trying to prioritize tasks for today, or you’re searching for your life-long calling, all you have to do is decide what to do within the time you have been given.
Because we don’t have forever. Time is finite.
Recently, I have reconnected with a group of folks online who grew up in the seventies in my hometown.
At 16, it feels like life is so long, like you have forever to decide what you will do with your life. Although some kids knew way back then the direction their lives would take, I would wonder for many years to come.
And even then, I ended up having to focus more on Who I would be rather than What I would be.
That’s where developing a personal mission statement really made a difference. Once I figured that out, no matter what my job is, or what my circumstances are, I am doing what I’ve decided to do every day for as long as I have been given.
~ DIANA’S ENORMOUS BOOK OF QUOTES ~
Do you have a personal mission statement?

Wow this has really got me thinking, Diana, because I have had knee-jerk reactions to stuff lately and I don’t want to be like that anymore. Thanks for this post!

Love this post! I do not have a formal personal mission statement, but rather one I care around in my heart. There I can make changes as I change and grow.

I have a had several personal mission statements that reflected “what” I was “doing” at different times. And then I took time to reflect on my Dharma or life calling at a deeper level.
What have I always been drawn to do over the years? What will I continue to be drawn to and continue to do that makes me feel alive?
My dharma is to “learn, grow and share”. Everywhere I have been and wherever I go, is a reflection of this.

Do I have a personal mission statement? Nope, as you may know I take life one day at a time, just going with the flow

Such an important question…like Tolkien says, I think it may be the only “real” question. I’ve been reading a bunch of posts today that center around it, one way or another. I’m feeling very thankful– for I do believe I am finally on a path I am passionate about. It’s where I want to spend my time! Thanks for this post, Diana ❤

Your right, Diana, time has limits for each of us. I don’t have a personal mission statement yet but I’m going to work in one and I can tell you without hesitation that it’s going to include chocolate..:)

I wish when I was a lot younger I would have followed my dreams or maybe would have done what I was meant to be or even do. Now I’m older and have put away some of the things that have been in the way from me doing what I am supposed to be or do. So now I’m trying to make something of my self like writing or acting or dowhat II’m supposed to do with time I have been given. We all need to do the same and make the world a better place for all of us.
