“Differences are not intended to separate, to alienate. We are different precisely in order to realise our need of one another”-Desmond Tutu
How boring would it be
if I was like you and you were like me?
If we all looked the same, thought the same, and liked all the same things?
Because, I love how you challenge me and what I believe, even when it makes me angry.
I love what I learn when I struggle with you, even when it makes me cry.
I love what you teach me, about myself and the world, when you share your thoughts and life experiences.
When I am weak, you are strong and when you are weak, I am strong.
We need each other.
If you really think about it, closed-mindedness and conformity are way more threatening than diversity.
How boring would it be if I was like you and you were like me?
How would we grow?
How would we even know what we’re missing?
How would we learn about forgiveness?
Acceptance?
Compassion?
Mercy?
Wisdom?
Courage?
Kindness?
Love?

Why would we even want, or need, to spend one single moment with each other?
You’re so wise…. and that’s just one of the reasons I love you so! ❤

I love this Diana! Differences bring growth. When we accept them we see that we are all part of humanity as well.

Don’t we get bored being alone as it is? Why go out looking for more of the same? 🙂

It’s interesting to grow up in a very diverse culture, and assume that everyone else does as well. It’s always surprising to find out that is not true. Some day….Lovely post, Diana. ❤ Van

Thanks Van. When I was a child I wondered why we just didn’t all marry people of different races. I figured eventually we’d all be the same and could get along. Now I love differences and I think something would be lost if we were all the same. ❤

Love it Diana. I teach my children to celebrate each child’s differences and culture. What an amazingly wonderful, mixed up world we live in.

Great reminder Diana to accept each other’s differences. You are right, we would not grow or become who we are without them! We all have unique stories and beauty. ❤️

Nice post, Diana. You reference love often and well.
In the farthest corner of even the most confused heart is found an ever-present burning ember of love; which can never truly be extinguished. It is the love that is born of truth, which is common to us all, regardless of our outer appearances or customs. It is a love, that if allowed, by our will, to burn with full intensity, would overcome our random differences with ordered commonality. And by being devoid of pride, in this circumstance, the uniqueness of each individual could be recognized without defamation.
