Normally, I like painting pictures with words. So what do I do when I’m short on words? Well, I share pictures with you. Pictures are worth a thousand words, right?
So here’s a glimpse into my stomping grounds over the last two or so months. You’ve seen this one somewhere before, haven’t you? Do you remember where?
Scroll up. See my banner photo? Well this is the original photo I cropped for use up top. When I’m out and about, I like to take photos of things that catch my eye. I snapped this one, pointing my phone kitty corner from where I stood waiting for the pedestrian light to change. That’s the Calgary Tower and when it was built in the late 60’s it was the tallest structure around. Now when you go to the top, instead of just looking down on everything, you can look up into offices.
I took this photo at my Thinking Spot on the Elbow River. Well actually the couple in the photo were sitting on my bench, so I snapped it from a bench on higher ground. I felt kind of guilty taking it, because they were sharing an intimate moment, laughing, being affectionate – ahh young love!
I snapped this photo on 4th Street, heading north and cropped it so you could see red-cap-guy better.
Everywhere I walk, there’s construction. That pile of wood there was once the outdoor swimming pool at the Glencoe Club. I hope they’re just building it anew as it’s operational all year-round. It’s weird to walk by on a cold winter day and see people swimming in the outdoor heated pool.
Here’s another shot of the Calgary Tower taken from the Central Memorial Park entrance from 4th Street.
I shot this picture on 10th Avenue because even in construction, there is beauty to be found. It also showcases our beautiful Alberta skies.
This is the same crane I captured in the previous photo, I love the reflection of it in the building. Isn’t it cool?
Speaking of photos being worth a thousand words. Check out these goofy selfies I took a few nights ago and texted to my daughter.
These types of texts always result in a one-word response from my daughter
“WEIRDO”
~ HUMP DAY CHRONICLES ~
Do you send goofy texts to your kids? Do you think I’m a weirdo? What words come to mind when looking at my pictures?

I have never sent a text. Good for you, sending selfies.

At one time I swore I would never send a text, but that is the preferred method of communication for my daughter and so I had to learn if I wanted to stay in touch! Now, I mostly prefer it to phone calls, i.e., send a text to say time and place to meet so we can talk in person kinda thing! ❤

Diana loved the pictures especially the one with the cloud reflection, so cool. Also thought your selfies were pretty cool too. My daughter likes being the weirdo in our house and Im just the mum who has to listen to her mad 12 year old songs and rants, she cracks me up and I warn her that soon she will turn into the teenager and not bounce around the house acting weird anymore. She promises me this won’t happen….I hope not but I’m pretty sure the teenager germ will eventually get her lol….We love weird in our house YOU would fit right in here Diana.

It’s a rule of life that our kids think we’re weird and their friends’ parents are cool. Of course that works in reverse as well, so it’s good to know we’re still cool!

There’s nothing weird about having fun! (From what I’ve seen, a primary function of children is to call their parents “Weird.” I think this is just the universe being ironic… since those children will grow up to be called “Weird” by their kids. 😀 )
I like the blue skies and reflections, but I kept thinking, “Slow down and stroll, Lady Di! Enjoy the day with a slow meander!” 😛

I’m not photogenic either Jennifer – my face is asymmetrical. Thank God for poor lighting in my living room!
If we ever get to meet, we’ll have some wine and create some fun, silly selfies that will make everyone else wish they were hanging out with us! ❤

Great photos Diana! I particularly love the “mirrored sky” reflections… Although (honestly ; ) it looks like the amazing March sky that’s been spotted overhead here in central Ontario lately and (I just saw the pics yesterday; ) in Saint John NB and Cape Breton NS… So, I guess it’s official, we’re all about to tumble into Spring! ; )

How’d you know I felt like a tour of Calgary, Diana? My photo class and my Syracuse walks with Jim put me in the mood, and your beautiful photographs today scratched my itch wonderfully! The Calgary Center is my favorite, both shots, and the reflective glass photo of the shorter building is great also.
I do send goofy texts to my daughter, yes, I do, Diana. ❤ I don't think your selfies are in the "weirdo' category. I think they're in the "lovely mom having fun" category. OK, maybe your monster face one is a little weirdo. ;-o
Thanks again, my friend, for just what I needed tonight.

The one before the one in which you are throwing your head back at an angle, Diana. The one in which you are facing straight at the camera and sort of gritting your teeth and trying to look scary.
