When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate, when life is bitter, say thank you and grow. ~ unknown
What an amazing journey we’re on!
Life is a gift.
Its ebbs and flows.
Its highs and lows.
The connections we make and break.
The joys and sorrows we experience.
Each one of our paths; unique
a combination of choice and circumstance.
Sometimes courageously following our dreams. Inspiring and encouraging others to follow theirs. Take hold of ‘moments of joy’ – treasure them in your heart. They will carry you through the hard times.
Other times we are paralyzed by fear. Making us empathetic and patient with others who are afraid. Embrace every part of who you are.
Rippling effects that change the course of our path, that teach us if we let them. Or haunt us until we are teachable.
Life is a gift.
A beautiful and precious gift.
Don’t squander it.
Don’t take it for granted.
Be grateful for every opportunity given.
Even our mistakes have meaning when viewing our lives in this way.

This is a beautiful post, one of your best.
We all want just the happy times, it is a wondrous gift to understand that the tough times are also all about life and make us who we are.
Thanks for your gift of you Diana, and the wonderful support you have given me throughout 2014.

Last few days were spent contemplating the same thoughts, Diana. I wrote up eulogy for my father which didn’t take long… he passed away 2 days ago in palliative care at one of the major Toronto hospitals.

Diana I love that quote it is only through the pain and struggles that we evolve into something much deeper. We have a sense of how fragile this life can be and we are grateful for the little things. Happy day to you.

You are bang on with this Diana. I see times every day where I choose NOT to seize an opportunity for fear that it will take me away from the familiar. It is so important to me to trust that deep down I know what I need to do and to follow those instincts. Have a great Christmas!!

I remember sharing that quote a while back while I was suffering. It is a hard lesson, but a necessary one. In the small community where I used to live and raised my children, they are grieving the sudden death of 17 yr. old who was killed in a car accident a few days ago. I didn’t know him but I know his family, and I can’t imagine the pain they are facing. Life at its most bitter.
