“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can play together all night.” ~ Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes)
Some say our dreams are a result of our subconscious working out issues in our lives.
I’ve had dreams like that.
Like when I was a child, painfully shy and picked on by my peers.
I dreamt I saved the neighbourhood from a dragon by tying it up with my skipping rope.
And even now when issues challenge me, sometimes they are personified in dreams with people who have traits that relate to my struggles.
Others say dreams allow us to spend time with those who have passed away, or those we haven’t seen in a long time.
I’ve had dreams like that as well.
Like the time I was doubting myself and a good friend showed up in my dream and told me she believed in me, encouraged me to press on and be brave.
Those are my favourite dreams of all. ❤

I do remember my father coming to me in a dream about six months after he had died. From that point I started to remember the happiness of having been in his life, rather the sadness of his death.

I love the quote as well as Calvin and Hobbes, Diana!
I always wish I could remember something about my dreams, alas they’re extremely faint by the time I’m finished waking up and begin processing it. I’m that person who talks about dreams awfully like “You were in my dream, and then, something happened…what was it??? You were there, but you weren’t you and I wasn’t really me but I was watching the scene out of body …and maybe something scary happened…not sure…and it’s completely gone and I have no idea now!”
Just pointless – I do wish I could be one of those people that vividly remembers their dreams but it’s just not in the cards it seems! I’d especially like to be saving the neighborhood from a giant dragon, that seems very exciting!! 😀

Andrea, you can’t wait. You have to write it down immediately or at least re-tell it to yourself out loud immediately when you wake up!

I forget a lot of my dreams. The best dream was oddly prophetic but I didn’t know until I experienced part of it for real:
My first trip to Europe was in Greece for 3 wks. over 25 yrs. ago. Included Athens and some Greek islands with 2 Greek-Canadians.
We were in Piraeus, the suburb of Athens walking around. Where some of the wealthy Arabs lived. Suddenly we turned a corner on the street while walking and suddenly realized why it looked so familiar: I had dreamt.

I think dreams are so fascinating Diana. I mean, don’t you see pets dream too? I think there is really something large at work in our dreams. Working things out, foretelling, inspiring, or just amusing. So many times I wanted to write them down and make a book out of them. But then they are gone. xo

Dreams are strange things , Diana. Often they make no sense, but sometimes they’re a way for us to sort things out subconsciously or unconsciously. If something’s troubling us enough that we dream about it, I think it’s a sign we’d better deal with it when we’re awake.

Our dreams are a gift. Yours are beautiful and you should hold them close to your heart. My dreams have always guided me in life, but of course my favourite dreams are when my son visits me and I awake feeling like we have been together once again and this is so precious!

Diana, I love the sentiment of the quote. My favorite dreams are when my sweet husband and precious Alex come to spend time with me. In one dream, Alex promised to remain on my left shoulder until our book was written. I choose to keep that one in my heart.

I think dreams can be signs of dissonance in our life. Particularly those repeaters another reader mentioned. I have one going on now – I find myself hanging onto something I sturdy very high off the ground with the only way out a risky move. I’m sure it is my subconscious telling me I need to leave my job and focus on my budding business!
I won’t tell you about the other one – bad imagery!😊
