When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly & unquestionably. ~ Walt Disney
One thing that I love to do in this season of longer days is to take a walk after dinner.
Especially this time of year when the sun hangs low in the sky, I love walking into the sun.
I love the phrase ‘walking into the sun.’
Besides its literal meaning, it’s a metaphor to me for pursuing my dream.
Sure the light is blinding and I can’t always see clearly what lies ahead, but I’m inexplicably pulled forward, toward a vision, toward what I am meant to be.
And I have to take each step in faith, believing I am already there, believing it’s worth it.
If it were not so, if I was tentative about every step, why would I go? What would be the point?
I love this Disney quote.
It gives me courage.
It motivates me to work hard toward that which is important to me. Doing otherwise would feel untrue.
I like walking into the sun.
~ DIANA’S ENORMOUS BOOK OF QUOTES ~
Are you inexplicably pulled toward something?

I love the new theme. It has a wonderful up-to-date, contemporary look.
I also love after-dinner walks. Right before I read this post, I came into the house following an after-dinner walk. 🙂

What an uplifting quote Diana – Funny how the things you need to hear present themselves at the perfect time!
Thanks for this ~ I’m turning towards the sun!

You’ve changed your look again! I like it!!
I agree with the sentiment you’re expressing, but my concern is: How do we insure that what we believe in is the right thing? I’m not sure anything in life should be done unquestioningly. One of my favorite quotes is, “Evil doesn’t question itself.”
That’s not at all to say that commitment to your beliefs shouldn’t be 100%!

You know Smitty, I’m of the mind that not everybody has to do things / approach things in the same way. We all have varied strengths and weaknesses. But that’s why we need teams so that all the gaps are covered moving forward. 🙂 What do you think?

Yes, absolutely we all have our own styles, motivations, goals, opinions, drives and much else! But if the suggestion is that there can be an approach to life without using ones head, then I don’t think I can agree.

Smart lady Elizabeth! For some reason, I NEED to burn off energy and so I don’t mind walking (or marching as some witnesses have called it) into the sun!

Yes, Diana, the metaphor is so strong this time of year. Never give up the quest, the draw, the pull toward something so powerful, attractive and coveted. Thanks for your quote!

I am inexplicably drawn to writing. It has nothing to do with making money from it either, and everything to do with expressing and sharing myself with others.
New theme, Diana. Nice!

Yes. I can totally see that about you Ian!
I’ve been reading The Generosity Network and just finished a chapter about Jeffersonian dinners. (Dinner parties held in the way that Thomas Jefferson would host them. Inviting a small group of the thinkers of the day and discussing the issues of the day) I could see you around that table Ian.

I know what you mean Eric. When I am stuck on a creative project, I need to walk away, let it marinate and if I do something physical like walking it helps to get those creative juices flowing again.

🙂 Looking at the quote (quasi) literally, for me it’s the beach, the ocean. Nothing like the pull of those waves. Beyond that, it’s the writing.
Nice post, Diana!

I love the metaphor, “walking in to the sun” as well Diana. Sometimes I walk on the beach with “the sun on my back” and find this just as satisfying. I wonder what that would mean as a metaphor. 🙂
