"F" Word, 200 words, Diana Schwenk, Diana's Enormous Book of Quotes, Fear, fight, fists, flight, foaming at the mouth, formidable, fruitless, funny, futility, future
I don’t like that man, I must get to know him better. ~ Abraham Lincoln
Most folks respond in one of two ways to someone, or their opinion, when they strongly disagree.
Fight or Flight.
I’m a fighter. Even when I’m fearful. Rather, especially when I am fearful.
My jaw is ferociously flapping and my fists are fiercely clenching and I’m foaming at the mouth.
I wonder why I put on such a fruitless front. A frivolous exercise in futility.
Must I always be so formidable?
What if I chose a more favourable response? What if I chose to fancy their views by fantasizing about how we might flourish together before flipping them off?
Would that be a fatal mistake?
Would that make me a failure?
Should it even be a factor?
Don’t be faint-hearted. Don’t focus on your festering feelings or the flaws of your fellow beings.
Friend is better than foe. We get further faster by functioning together and becoming familiar with each others’ ways. Why not be a fair-minded facilitator by forming a fantastic future for all.
At the very least, it’s Food for Thought.

What’s your favourite “F” word?

This is a clever one, Diana!
My favorite F word is Freedom. The one thing no one can ever have enough of. I also like to throw in Faith. And I tend to use Forever a lot in my poetry.

at first I thought I would have trouble finding some “f” words – but I like Fun, Food, Family, Friends, French Fries (a food that stands alone!!), and Fighter – I have definitely found out what a fighter I am through the difficulties of life.

Fair play can sound fruitless to ferocious fighters. By the way, the cycle track plan vote by city council is tomorrow. Pass along to friends, fence-sitters, whomever to your circles…. https://www.facebook.com/yycCycleTrack You’ll see the list of supporters, businesses not far from you live. This fantastic fight and fearless facilitates the future vision of Calgary for a more pedestrian, bike-friendly city. A future that is far-reaching…to fit with a broader vision.
Frankly it is a historic moment. But maybe you can speak to other items of greater historic magnitude. Probably LRT, etc.

Jean, It sure has been a contentious discussion. Let’s hope it goes through and that weird sections, like on 7th Street actually end up connecting to somewhere instead of just stopping dead! Have you been deeply involved in the process Jean?

No. I just participate in general dialogue with other cyclists. I live in the Eau Claire Area and know there is regular, steady use of the 7th St. cycle track….I see it daily.

My favorite “f” word is the one that is frowned upon ferociously.
Still, it’s one heck of a word – mega multipurpose!

Andrea, If it’s the f word I think you mean, I agree! I don’t use it often (anymore) but sometimes, nothing brings across the point like that particular word!

There is another one that I am guilty of in such situations and that is FRIGHT which often translates into FREEZE.
Just stand there and do nothing. Not a good option and I am working on a solution.
I think FAIRNESS is a good choice.

I need to think about things before I act. I make a good public speaker, hopeless debater.
I like your ‘fight’ attitude.
Sometimes I wish I had more of an immediate fight in me but I guess there is no use complaining of what we do not have, but rather it is best to make the use of what we do have. 🙂

Fight is a close-minded stance to people and new ways of doing things (when it is a counter-reaction to someone or something I don’t like, that is)
In other situations, fight has served me well, or so it seems. 🙂

ha – sounds pretty feisty – often people who we clash with at first make the best friends because both are passionate.

I wonder if that is a Winston Churchill quote. Alas I am wrong, apparently it’s attributed to Sun Tzo and sometimes to Niccolo Machiavelli.
