“People say grass is greener on the other side of the fence. It’s green where you water it, so water what’s important!”

A man uses humour to force spring in Ontario

I read this quote within days of seeing this picture depicting spring in Canada. I knew immediately I loved them both!

I much prefer the above quote to ‘the grass is always greener on the other side…’  because the latter refers to our tendency to desire what others have, resulting in our circumstances seeming less than adequate in comparison.

Worse yet, we just give into envy, kick up the dust on our own patch of parched ground and stare longingly at the grass on the other side.

Do we seriously think that their grass got green without effort?

Isn’t it time for us to be grateful for what we have on our side and start caring for (watering) the things that are most important.

Maybe it’s time to take a hard look at the things we’ve been neglecting and give them some attention.

What’s important to you in your life?

What needs watering on your patch of ground?
