You may find the worst enemy or best friend in yourself. ~ English Proverb
For most of my life I’ve known the words, “…the only person you can change is YOU.”
What I mean to say by ‘known’ is that I’d heard the words, they made sense, I’ve even said them on occasion.
You know how you can know something in your head but can’t fully understand it until you know it in your heart? Until it becomes a part of you?
During this process of pursuing my vision and mission over the last several months, these words have become a part of me and have found their way to my heart.
It stands to follow that you can also choose the things you decide to believe and say about yourself.
You can point out your shortfalls, beat yourself up for your failures and you can underestimate the value you bring to the world.
Or you can believe in your purpose. You can trust in your gifts and abilities and move toward your dreams with courage and conviction.
So which do you choose?
Friend or Foe?
~ DIANA’S ENORMOUS BOOK OF QUOTES ~
Lovely story. Interesting graphic also. From the final fight between Ichigo and the “Vasto Lorde,” Ulquiorra. Ulquiorra Cifer was a very interestingly crafted character. During the original release I recall there was some speculation as to whether he would turn out to be a “stealth goodguy,” But alas….

Yes, “no worries.” which is what Kisuke Urahara might say. (I’ll leave you to google that with Bing… or some such thing… )

Purpose… what a great subject. Still trying to find my way in the mix of life. But the fog is starting to vanish and i see clearer skies. It’s a blah Monday here in the Bluegrass but It’s all good. Keep reaching out Diana, you are a friend across the miles….

I’m learning to choose friend. It’s a slow process, trying to break years of negative thinking–luckily I have an excellent example in front of me. ❤

Who in their right mind would not be friend to someone as lovely as you! I understand though UGH

I often find myself in the “foe” mode, but try and pull out of it as soon as possible. Your posts really make me think, Diana. I truly appreciate your words. 😀

Ahh thank you Rose. 🙂 You’ve made my day!
I find myself in the foe mode at times too. I like when I realize I am there sooner rather than later and I too, can pull out.

Ha ha, this is something I’ve struggled with throughout my lifetime, although I am much more inclined, as I’ve matured, at choosing ‘friend’.
Where do you come up with your wonderful ideas for posts? 🙂

I think women struggle more. I could be wrong.
I almost didn’t write a post because I couldn’t find a quote that spoke to me until late last night when I saw this quote come up on my twitter feed and coupled with a few conversations I’ve had in the last couple of weeks, it came to be!
How’s that for a run-off sentence? 🙂

I tend to be highly-critical of myself; although every January I do my annual ‘be kind to myself and note my good points’ list; which I have just completed so that should keep me going for a while… 🙂
How about you?

Are you going to post your list? 🙂
I think it’s good to evaluate and learn from the things that we do, but I would rather not tell myself things like: that’s a stupid idea, what makes you think that will work, nobody’s going to agree with you, etc.
I think there are enough other people waiting in line to do that for me, so I don’t need to do that myself! 😉

It’s good to review the things we do with an eye to improve it for the next time – I think we confuse this with self-deprecation at times though, would you agree?
