Most of us Calgarians have seen this Christmas miracle created by West Jet employees here in Calgary. I want to make sure my non-Canadian blogging community also gets a chance! If you ask me, their money spent to do this is way more meaningful than any cheesy commercial they might have created. If you need some Christmas spirit, get your kleenex out and watch this!
This is awesome and if you don’t feel remotely festive yet this will make you! It did for me! West Jet are an airline who decided to grant people their christmas wishes, with a bit of digital magic. A bit like the SNCF adverts I recently posted about they give flyers a real-time meeting with Santa via video link. Scanning their boarding pass allows Santa to know the kids names, and Santa proceeds to have a good old chat with the kids and the family, asking what they want for Christmas. One boy wanted a “choo-choo train” and another grown up man wanted pants and socks! The things people ask for! Once everyone had had a go, some West Jet elves, in the airport the customers flight was due to land at ran (literally) to the shops and bought, yes BOUGH ALL THE ITEMS the people had asked Santa for!…

Yes, very! It doesn’t usually get this cold here until January or February. You’ve had it cold too I hear.

Yup. Same story. Having January weather here. So much for global warming, eh? Can’t complain though, it’s -41 in Yellowknife today with a wind index of -50!

OMG! This is bad enough. Paul said the same thing yesterday about global warming. The wind chill here today makes it feel like -23.

All ready for Christmas? Are you travelling to see your family?

I’m never ready for Christmas! No, I don’t think I’ll even see my daughter this year. But I’ve been invited to spend Christmas with a friend (who is like a brother to me) and his family. 🙂
How ’bout you? All ready? Travelling?

I hope you enjoy the holidays, however you spend them. x
All I have left to do is baking. I always bring goodies to the kids and grandkids – we go in town Christmas Eve to the day after Boxing Day. Hoping the weather complies. 🙂

I’m glad you too spread the word about this wonderful video. I saw it on FB and shared it on my blog too. What a wonderful–and very smart–thing for this company and its employees to do. We’re helping to give it millions of dollars of free advertising and I’m happy to do it!

I don’t know if you know this but West Jet also said if they reached 200,000 views they would fly family members to a Ronald McDonald House so that they could be close to their sick child! They have more than surpassed that goal!
