200 words, believe, courage, Diana Schwenk, Diana's Enormous Book of Quotes, doubts, fear of failure
If we doubted our fears instead of doubting our dreams, imagine how much in life we’d accomplish. ~ Joel Brown
Wow! I love this quote!
If we must have doubts, why not doubt our fears instead of our dreams? I have learned to pay attention when negative self-talk comes into my mind so that I can quickly counteract it with a positive message.
Sometimes when I voice my fears out loud my best friend responds with, “I doubt it!” Why shouldn’t I do the same? The next time I catch myself thinking…
who am I kidding? I am not the right person for the job or
no one is going to like this idea
I am just going to say “I doubt it” out loud!
I really think Joel has stumbled upon something here and doubting our fears has some merit. I really like this quote. I am going to give this a shot!
How about you?
What are some of the fears that come up for you when you envision your future?
Let me know what they are below so that I can say “I doubt it!”

I LOVE this!! So true, why do we always doubt our dreams yet hold on to our fears with an iron clad grip. All of you, my fears, are getting some doubt thrown at you this week!!
This excites me.:D

Great quote! I like how it turns the relationship between doubts and dreams upside down–and encourages us to focus on the dreams..

Y’know, I’ve been thinking some more and conversing with my pal Rebekah about this… http://purringly.wordpress.com/2013/11/15/no-great-success/
I honestly think that self-doubt and confidence are part of the Yin and Yang of life: to be healthy we all need some of both – but neither too much, nor too little of either…. Did you know there’s actually a word for this in Swedish?

Perhaps. I’m thinking of the type of doubt that paralyzes us and prevents us from moving forward. We do need to listen to our gut when assessing situations and deciding who we will trust. Outside of that I see us mastering our fears with practice, much like learning to walk. (We don’t continuously fall throughout our lives…well maybe near the end of our lives) I hope that makes sense. 🙂

Yes, that did make sense, once I looked at it from your point of view. Although I was thinking more along the lines of negative self-assessment and lack of confidence. Funny how we all have a different POV, eh? There are just so many different ways of interpreting things…
Oh, and about the “falling down” bit? Whenever I’d wipe out while skiing, I’d just chalk it up to pushing my boundaries (and say “That’s a good thing!; )

Thank you my dear! We all have doubts, and if you said that you could not overcome your doubts as they pop up, I would have to say I doubt it!

Brilliant quote and post. I will have to try this because I have to admit that I am afraid that some other bad thing will happen for my family. Silly, I know, but the accident has made me very nervous.

Great quote! I could use it when the doubts arise about my writing skills. You know, the voice that says, “Give up, you’re not good enough.”

Such a simple and positive thought – why do we so often go the opposite way and think the negative first! DOH
I fear I won’t remember to do this though…
