No one who achieves success does so without the help of others ~ Alfred North Whitehead
On Friday I had coffee with Kathleen. As we visited and reminisced, I was reminded that no one ever succeeds alone.
Kathleen was my executive assistant when I was in charge of development at an organization that cares for the homeless.
The Development Department was made up of what I called the ‘Dream Team.
Every team member’s unique skills and gifts complemented those of the other members.
Kathleen’s gift was to be fully present with whomever she was with.
She noted the smallest details like the birthdays or major milestones of our donors.
Kathleen was instrumental in ensuring that I stayed connected with supporters in meaningful ways.
Without Kathleen and the rest of the team, I would not have been nearly as successful.
I hope they all know how thankful I was.
I don’t care who you are, what you do, or how driven you are – if you are successful, it’s because you have been supported by others.
~ DIANA’S ENORMOUS BOOK OF QUOTES ~
Do those who support you know how thankful you are?

Heh… Lack of support certainly would account for some of the failures I’ve had! 😕

Appreciating others and letting them know how much they are appreciated, in my mind, is what it’s all about. Everyone needs to feel that validation from time to time. Good post as usual, Diana. x

So true– and it feels like the pendulum is swinging back toward the free expression of gratitude (or maybe it’s just that I’ve made a concerted effort to fill my life with people who value community and team-players?) In any case, I appreciate being surrounded by people who are graciously thankful.

Great post, Diana. “I hope they all know how thankful I was.” It sounds as though you still are thankful, and such gratitude is a mighty good thing indeed.

absolutely! When one is weak, another is strong. When some are discouraged, others lift them up. This is true outside of the work scenario as well. ❤
