A shark that stops swimming is dead in the water.

Well guess what?shark

I’m not a shark!

I CAN STOP AND LIVE THROUGH IT!

What’s wrong with just living in the moment sometimes?

Why shouldn’t we celebrate what’s happening right now?

Did you just complete a long project? Take a moment for high-fives all around before jumping into the next project.

While you’re at it, why not thank all the good folks who rallied around you to make it work?

Don’t misunderstand me. I think it rocks to have purpose.

I think having a vision for what could be is life-giving and satisfying beyond words.

A life without acting on your dreams is wasted.

All true.

Just as important however…is being in the now.

Look around you for a minute.

Look at your spouse, your children, your parents, your siblings, your home

the life you have built together.

Aren’t they something?

What about your friends?

You know

those people who are like family to you?

Take a minute to appreciate how lucky you are to have them in your life.

And your co-workers – have a good look at them during your next meeting. staff_meeting

I mean really look, listen…

What are their gifts?

How do they contribute to the team?

How can you support and encourage them?

Aren’t you just the luckiest man/woman alive?

Inhale and exhale slowly.

Maybe the universe is trying to show you something.

Maybe God has a powerful message for you.

Are you listening???

I was the fortunate recipient and beneficiary of a 3-day Franklin Covey course a few years back.

Among many great learnings, the facilitators talked about personal victories as well as public victories.

I realized at the time that I had the public victories well in hand but my personal victories were found wanting.

They talked about scheduling time for me.

Microsoft Outlook is one of my favourite time management tools.

I don’t know where I’d be without it.

It keeps me organized and prevents me from double-booking myself. God forbid that I would ever fall off the grid because I wouldn’t know what I was supposed to be doing!

Inspired by this course I was able to schedule one more regular and important appointment to this useful tool –  time for me!

In between doctor’s appointments and meetings I can schedule time with the people who mean the most to me, or schedule a walk – which I just love doing, or a movie, or a time slot to read that book I’ve been meaning to read.

~ HUMP DAY CHRONICLES ~

While you’re out there changing the world, don’t forget the now.

Time has a way of getting away from you.

I don’t want to be longing for the moments I could have celebrated and enjoyed when it’s too late.

Do you?
