I have a hard time turning my mind off, particularly when I’m stressed.
I lay there in bed trying to sleep, but my mind is churning with concerns, a lot of which I can do nothing about.
Something that seems to work for me is to think about where I want to go or someone I care about and pray a blessing for them.
This way I focus my thoughts on what I want not on how I want to turn my mind off.
It really works for me and I fall asleep.
Don’t feel pressured by the guy behind you – he can always pass you.
You know what I’m talking about right?
You’re moving along at your own pace and there is someone over your shoulder telling you to hurry up or do it another way.
It can really throw you off your kilter.
Just let them pass – it’s ok.
Signal where you’re going.
Let people know where you’re going.
Who knows – some may even climb in with you and help you get there!
~ DIANA’S ENORMOUS BOOK OF QUOTES ~
Where do you want to go?
What’s stopping you?

I think that guy get’s behind me in the snow and tailgates – I need to just pull over and let him pass 🙂 I like that idea of praying as someone comes to mind and try to do that – it’s interesting to hear later that they were in a place where they needed it – kinda cool. Nice post!

🙂 nasty tailgater! Yeah when you do hear it’s kind of cool and even if you don’t hear I bet one day we’ll be surprised at the difference we made!

I hate it when I go to bed and my mind will not shut off and let me sleep, when that happens I like to lay there and think of how I would like to have 24hrs to spend as much money as possible and what I would spend it on

Totally! Why stress out over someone on your rear bumper? Let them pass and the drive is calm again!
Nice metaphor!

Smiling. This is a beautiful message. And Dad is obviously soo right. When my mind keeps spinning around worries and won’t quit, I think about all the people in my life and all the blessings.

Very inspirational, Diana, thanks. I feel I’m in a blog-slump… not getting inspired to write much!

Thanks Lisa, a good friend and local blogger once said to me that I need to trust the process, just start writing and let the words flow organically and sometimes this works. Your comment seems like a good start…write that and then your thoughts that follow. You may not use the entire thing or you may not post it at all but sometimes it gets the juices flowing. Another thing that works sometimes is to go back to the old ways…use a note pad and pen! You’re a great writer, I love your posts…it will come back and I look forward to many more inspirational posts, stories and pictures!
blessings,
Diana

Beautiful post Diana! Love the title, and the idea of sending a prayer blessing to someone we care about or some place we’d like to go, to focus on what we DO want rather than cursing this insomnia! I’ll have to try that! Thanks again dear heart xo Hugs, Gina

Such a powerful tool — to say a prayer — for me, I just say it over and over again, instead of sheep, blessings of prayers.
Lovely!
Thanks Diana. Happy Sunday. Happy Day.
