“You know what’s probably a good thing to hang on your porch in the summertime, to keep mosquitoes away from you and your guests? Just a big bag of blood.” Jack Handey
Early this summer I probably had more mosquito bites than in the last 10 years combined.
We’ve had some unusually hot and muggy days.
I take two showers a day.
My apartment stays hot at night.
The heat and the scratching of bug bites makes it difficult to sleep.
My thick hair is akin to wearing a big fur Russian hat.
I can’t drink enough water to replenish all that I’m losing.
I love summer.
I love the sun on my face.
I love the trees fully clothed in green leaves.
I love the smell of flowers in bloom.
I love taking walks through parks and along the river.
Where I live, summer is too short and it’s passing quickly – too fast for my liking.
Nights are cooler now and the days are getting shorter.
Before too long I will be trapped in the deep-freeze of ice and snow
and longing for the hot days of summer.
What’s your favourite season?

No, I live in Western Canada. I have visited OK City though and loved it. I was downtown near flaming lips Alley listening to music at the Biting Sow. It was a hot day and very humid but gorgeous by the canal. I loved the volunteer embassadors. One embassador heard me speak and said, “you’re Canadian!” Turns out she was a transplant from Ontario, Canada and has been living in OK for 30 years! I took a boat tour in the canal and the tour guide pointed out the OK River, formerly the Canadian River. I love how OK’s tax payers paid an extra dollar a year until the downtown was beautified again. Great city, I had a good time there!

I have never been to Canada, but would love to visit and enjoy the beauty of it all! As for OKC, I was born there many moons ago. 🙂 When I was a kid it was dangerous to hang out downtown. Now there is so much to do and as you said, it is just lovely! We were just there visiting my folks and were amazed at the many changes in just a few years time. I agree, the ambassadors are a great feature! I am so glad you enjoyed our great state. We are glad to be living here again after being away for so many years! ♥

Love this song, and I love summer! The sun, the longer days, the beach! I spend all year waiting for it to arrive, and it’s ending all too quickly.

Even though I love summer and reading books in the sunshine, my favorite season is still winter. I love long sleeves, thick wooly socks, thermals, big fuzzy sweaters…oh gosh. I was just not born for the heat!

A cashier at a local grocery store recently told me basically the same thing. She’s an avid skiier and said as far as she’s concerned it could just rain for the next 5 weeks and then go straight into winter!

Yes, summertime is beautiful and I love this song. Absolutely great. Autumn is also a nice season walking through the woods and the leaves.

Hi Mom! Yes autumn back east with all the colours, the Maple trees is just stunning. Do you remember when we would drive to Ormstown and all the beautiful autumn leaves formed a canopy over our heads? Just amazing!

had an actual summer day today in the UK, certainly not going to last (we’ve already had our quota for the year!) but my favourite season? probably autumn, there is something about the light through the orange leaves that makes me feel safer.
love the song choice too!
Take care, Laura

Spring and Fall in the Ozarks are glorious – eye candy for a photographer at every turn. We have had an incredibly hot and dry summer and I am hoping that we will get some late rain and have a colorful fall. I love shirtsleeve weather – nothing better.

I can relate. I grew up in Vegas and escaped to someplace with actual seasons — Summer has alway been too much for me – but the tropics are another story – I like those when it’s cold here:)

Now that’s a great attitude! I’m not sure where you live but you should visit me in the dead of winter when our temperatures drop to -40 or more and the wind slices through all the layers of clothing and your lungs hurt because the air you breathe is like ice!
Yeah ok, it looks pretty sometimes…but I need to be moving to warmer climates hahaha
Thanks for reading my post and leaving a comment. You don’t have one season that stands out from the rest as your favourite?

It is a great song. Written by Negro Spiritualists in the the 20’s or 30’s I believe. So many sing it too, I’ve started collecting versions of it!
